We have had a similar problem with a company name swap where one of the companies names contained the word “British”!
After much discussion we eventually gave up and had to find another way to achieve what we wanted to do.
The people we spoke to at Companies House were very sympathetic but also gave us the answer that they have no discretion over how they apply the rules
May not be appropriate in your case, and I have not tried it, but it has been suggested to me that it may be possible to get round the issue by putting the disregarded word in brackets. This appears to be a reasonable assumption as Schedule 3 para 4 (1) states the disregarded word has to be preceded by a blank space, full stop or the @ symbol.
