A FTSE100 Company Secretary writes...
“We are a large financial services organisation and are looking at setting up a director training programme internally, with the help of some external providers. Does anyone (particularly with a financial services background) have experience of running an internal programme for director training? If so, I would be interested in details of how it is run, e.g. how structured and formal is it? To what extent is it tailored for individual director needs? Alternatively, if you use external providers, would you be willing to share experiences please?”

We are not a financial services company. We offer training via Board and Committee meetings, sometimes using our advisers. We also periodically forward details we receive of carefully selected external courses that are suitable for our directors according to their needs. We keep a record of training received by directors. This is over and above inductions for new directors.

Not a financial services organisation and we don’t run a specific director training programme. Training is covered within the Board and Committee agendas, which include offsite and overseas visits. An induction programme is undertaken separately of course.
