“We would be interested to know whether companies still produce hard copy “glossy format” half-yearly reports for posting to those shareholders who have opted out of electronic communications. Our registrar has advised that many companies are not posting half-yearly results at all but just reporting via their websites. The format of the full half-yearly report on the websites we have looked at tend to be non-glossy, which suggests that companies are not producing a half-yearly glossy at all.
What format are companies using in general for the half-yearly website report, and if any company is still producing a glossy half-yearly report for posting, what is their rationale?”

We have gone down the route of sending a glossy half-yearly report to shareholders but instead making it available on the company’s website

We stopped several years ago and only comment was one question at AGM a few years later asking why.

We just post on the website. I don’t know of anyone who produces a glossy.

We have not produced a half year report for a couple of years. We provide a letter to shareholders (circa three pages) providing highlights from the RNS (incl. any dividend details) and signpost them to the website for the full RNS or advising them they can request a hard copy. Only a dozen or so write and ask for a hard copy of the RNS. No adverse comment from memory, in fact some positive reaction (they get all they need from the letter and we’re saving money).

It is highly probable that we will not be publishing a glossy interim report this year.

We ceased production of a glossy interim in 2007. We put a pdf on the website and a full html version (in recent years); the only complaints have been from the smaller (older) shareholders. We will post them a print of the pdf if they ring up and request a copy. We do not maintain a mailing list of these people since it can soon get out of date.

We have stopped prodcuing a full glossy half year report and send a printed copy of the RNS formatted in the same style as a glossy report withou all the images etc.. Our printers also provide a web optimized pdf for the website which utilises the images we had in the previous annual report without additional costs. Web optimised pdf reports should be cheap to provide

We have not produced a “glossy format” half-yearly report since 2008. When we stopped sending them we had very little comment. Now just do an RNS and put a PDF of this on the website.

We have not produced a printed version for some years and have encountered no adverse reaction to this.

We have not produced a printed version for a number of years and experienced little or no reaction to this. A pdf version is uploaded to our website, only.

We have not produced glossy half year reports since 2008 when the Listing rules allowed the change.
We did not consult shareholders and had no adverse reaction. although we did get some calls in the first year asking is we had produced one.

This is our first year not producing a glossy half-yearly report.
We wrote to shareholders earlier in the year alerting them to the change and will be circulating a summary of the half-yearly report to those who have opted to remain with hard copy communication.

We last produced interim accounts in glossy format in August 2008. Just done the RNS since and it appears on the website in PDF format. First year, those shareholders opting for paper documents asked why they had not received an interim report and we printed a couple of PDFs and posted. Since then no questions.

We have not provided our shareholders with a hard copy for three years and have received no adverse comment. Should anyone request a copy by post then we down load and print off the copy which appears on the website and send it to them. The format which appears on the website is the RNS version.
