A FTSE SMALL CAP Group General Counsel and Company Secretary writes...
Has anyone has recruited a company secretary on a fixed term contract e.g. to cover a period of maternity leave, or as a temporary cover until a permanent appointment could be made? If so, how was the person recruited e.g. did you use an external recruitment consultant / advert on LinkedIn etc. In our case, it would be for a main market small plc.
Alternatively, has anyone outsourced the CoSec role either in whole or in part – and who did you use – and would you recommend it?
Beyond Governance offer a CoSec on-demand service that may be of use

Try AC Legal: https://www.aclegal.co.uk/ – they do a fully outsourced PLC co sec service.
BCL Legal have now got co sec/governance capability so could have a chat with them.
It may also be worth getting your internal recruitment team to put out a LinkedIn ad. The only issue is that I found there were a lot of candidates with co sec experience but very few with PLC experience, so I would be very clear in the advert that PLC experience is a must.
Try MUFG – they have an outsource option. Lisa Flury is with them now. She did an interim role for me and was excellent.
I work in this way since leaving my full time permanent role a year ago where we took on fully outsourced clients for small FTSE companies ((I did an ongoing role working for the Legal Counsel for TGI Fridays) and recruitment agencies often approach me (BWW, Flex Legal, Core etc) or people in my network recommend me. Happy to talk if David wants to share my email.

Never in that situation but I do know the specialists agents should be able to help you: The Core Partnership; BWW Recruitment; Ingen Partners; there are many others.
